The Presentation Guild’s Slack workspace is often cited as one of our best membership perks. Why, you ask?
Slack is a completely customizable experience that lets you pick and choose which topics to follow. Our workspace contains close to 50 channels, with no limit on how many you can join. Got a PowerPoint issue that you’ve been racking your brain on, but can’t seem to figure out? The #SOS channel provides immediate technical help and troubleshooting from experts around the globe. Want to share some hidden tech gems or pick up a few new ones? The #tips_and_tricks channel is all about knowledge sharing to make you more productive. There are options for just about anything presentation-related, but in the event you don’t find what you’re looking for, we welcome you to pitch your recommendation in #channel-ideas.
If you want to discuss something with a member in private, you can take the conversation off of channels and into direct messages. Both options give you the ability to share just about any file type up to 1GB in size. Our Slack community is filled with passionate presentation professionals just like yourself, from slide designers to public speakers and everyone in between, who want to offer their help and guidance. That includes Microsoft MVPs and big names in the presentation space.

If you’re already familiar with Slack through your profession, a major plus is the ease of toggling back-and-forth between different workspaces. This way you can be plugged in at all times to both your work and the Guild without constantly signing in and out. Slack can be used via your web browser, desktop app, and/or mobile app. If you’re like me, you don’t want to miss a thing even when away from the computer. The mobile app lets you pick and choose which channels you want to receive instant notifications on your device.
The Presentation Guild’s website is a portal for information related to membership. Once you join, the party moves to Slack where you can converse with your presentation peeps 24/7 and get immediate updates about important Guild news and events. Speaking from personal experience, Charles Stella, who often feels isolated as the sole Presentation Specialist at a large financial firm, says “the networking achieved through Slack alone is worth the price of admission.”
We’re here to tell you that Slack is nothing to feel intimidated about. Not only will you receive a tutorial during New Member Orientation, but we will also be releasing informative videos that show you the ins and outs of this dynamic communication platform.
What are you waiting for? Become a member of the Guild today, sign up for Slack, and say hello on the #-introductions channel. We can’t wait to meet you!
